SEVEN TPDCO STAFF MEMBERS
INDUCTED AS TOASTMASTERS
The conference room at the Spanish Court Hotel came alive with the sounds of eloquent speakers on
Monday, August 14, 2017, as 21 members were inducted to form the new Toastmasters International
Club, the One Love Communicators. Of the 21, Seven TPDCo staff members were inducted. Our own
Andrew Blackwood will sit on the executive committee as Sergeant at Arms for the 2017/2018 year.
Other inducted staff members include Tantanecia Burnett, Andre Harris, Danielle Clarke, Kareen Daley,
Sandra Barnett and Sheryll Lewis. Dr. Carey Wallace, Executive Director, Tourism Enhancement Fund
(TEF) was also inducted as Toastmaster and delivered a speech entitled “Online Opportunities within
the Tourism Sector.” Mr. Paul Pennicook , Director of Tourism gave the keynote address, highlighting
the potential of the Toastmasters Club to improve both the individual and the tourism sector.
Toastmasters’ International mission is to “provide a supportive and positive learning experience in
which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater
self-confidence and personal growth.”
The One Love Communicators meet every 1st and 4th Monday at 5:30 pm in the Resource Room at the
Jamaica Tourist Board.
Newly inducted Toastmaster Kareen Daley accepts her certificate of induction from Toastmasters International
Area 8 Director Charlene Porteous Henry.
