THE YEAR OF Cutting Ribbons FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE I want to again congratulate all the team members who pulled out the stops to accomplish all that was required at the end of the financial year. I applaud your efforts and encourage you to keep the momentum going. We started the year with our visioning conference and agreed that we would be more performance driven than ever. To that end we have shared the strategic plan with the entire team and also instituted our monthly general staff meeting which will become a fixture going forward. There is therefore no excuse for lack of information as each member is expected to be fully engaged in the process with ample opportunities for an exchange of information on the activities of the company and each member’s responsibilities. We recently witnessed the successful staging of our excellence awards. I must “big up” the winners who help to make us proud of brand Jamaica through their consistency of high touch service. It is our service providers who have a direct interface with the visitors and therefore set the tone for their vacation experience. Again I say kudos to our team members, who worked assiduously to ensure an exciting finale. The highlights which were broadcast on both TVJ and JNN and displayed in our local newspapers confirm the success of the event. TPDCo also just programme for on our industry agency TEF will spearheaded the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation’s inaugural certification and graduation just over 150 participants. This innovation is expected to have a significant impact over time and a big thank you goes out to Carol Rose Brown who led the process. Although our sister now have direct responsibilities for the JCTI we are proud to have gotten this off to a fine start. I expect that this will be a year of cutting ribbons; of delivering on our mandate and so let us redouble our efforts to get our projects out on time and on budget. As we move forward let us strive to try our best, to be our best perpetually, so that our agency will be a beacon in our ministry and in government. Dr Andrew Spencer Executive Director 3
