Sick Leave
(a) Each employee is entitled to sick leave with pay for ten (10) working days after the first twelve (12) months
of employment (unless otherwise stated in employment contract). During his/her second and succeeding years
he/she may receive ten (10) working days at any time during the year.
(b)Where the employee has worked for less than one (1) year, but more than one hundred and ten (110)
working days he/she shall be entitled to sick leave of a duration of one (1) day for every twenty –two (22) days
worked, up to two hundred and twenty (220) working days.
(c)Medical Certificate is required if the employee is sick for more than three (3) days. The employee should
however advise his/her Supervisor company of the illness no later than the end of the 1st day of absence.
(d)Additional sick leave with pay may be granted to an employee who has exhausted his/her ten working days
sick leave entitlement. This has to be approved by the Executive Human Resource Manager and shall depend
on the employee’s length of service, performance, attendance and the nature of the illness.
(e) Sick leave is not accumulative, and therefore cannot be carried forward to the succeeding year of employ-
ment.
