As the Weather Cools , Don ’ t Forget Local Open Burn Regulations
Fires are a cozy way to enjoy the cooler weather outside ; however , before you light a fire make sure you know Palm Beach County ’ s Open Burn Regulations . These regulations help to ensure the fires do not create a fire hazard in the community .
Per Palm Beach County Ordinance 590.11 , fires of any kind or size are NOT allowed on or in Palm Beach County beaches and parks . This includes the beaches in Jupiter .
Recreational fires , like campfires , cooking fires or fires for warmth , are allowed on private property without an open burn permit as long as they are no larger than three feet in diameter . Disposing of trash or debris in a recreational fire is not permitted . Ceremonial fires , which include bonfires and fires for religious purposes , do not require an open burn permit , but do require an approval letter from the Fire Marshal ’ s Office . Both recreational and ceremonial fires are not allowed when a county-wide burn ban is issued by Fire Rescue or the Division of Forestry due to dry conditions and / or elevated fire danger . For more information , visit pbcgov . com and search for open burn permits .
