Our rich history provides a sense of belonging that our pupils share with Old Pocklingtonians throughout the world. While the Foundation is rightly proud of its heritage and traditions, our purpose is to prepare our students for the future, not the past. Children starting in Reception in 2026 will be leaving the Sixth Form as adults in 2040. Our role is to provide them with the environment, tools and guidance to ensure that they are ready to follow their own path in life: to make the most of the opportunities and overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
This document outlines our vision for the future of the Foundation. It details the strategic initiatives that will provide the support we believe every child and young adult should benefit from, to ensure they have a firm foundation upon which to build their own futures. This support takes many forms, from academic and pastoral through to providing outstanding facilities and a safe environment.
From early beginnings in the Nursery through to final days in the Sixth Form, we aim to make learning consistently joyful— not only in traditional academic subjects, but also as our students learn about themselves and the world around them. The world is changing rapidly, and part of our mission is to equip them with the knowledge, resilience and adaptability they need not only to survive the future, but thrive in it. An increased focus on co-curricular activities will allow them to grow as individuals through Sport, Performing Arts and Outdoor Education. Our enhanced digital strategy will ensure that they are equipped for their digital futures. By strengthening our careers provision, and networking with national and international contacts, we aim to provide a personalised pathway into life beyond school. We also recognise the importance of strong relationships between school and home, and aim to improve the parent experience and facilitate greater engagement.
As you read on, you will get a glimpse into the exciting future that lies in store— our direction of travel as we start on our journey together, Towards 2040.
