The splendor of the birds is one of the most important visual attractions in Baru Island. This aviary, opened in February 2016, has a special host: The Andean condor, which is the symbol of this place full of feathers, colors and beaks.

The 3rd and 4th semester students could discover why Colombia is the country with a very rich variety of birds in the world. They took some pictures, learnt some information about the different types of beak and their functions, and also explored different kinds of ecosystems.

The aviary takes under its wings 138 species. It is about 1.200 birds such as harpy eagles, paujils, macaws, tángaras, storks, stone-curlews, parakeets, woodpeckers, cardinals.

The aviary size is 7 hectares and the visitors are welcome from 8:00 a.m. To 4:00 p.m. This place could become one of the selected places for future academic visits in order to promote the environmental sustainability.
