Dear Readers,
Cartagena is a tourist destination that develops increasingly sustainable criteria, forming professionals to respond to this form of tourism.
The high indexes of foreign and national visitors show the progress of the tourism activity as an engine of change and the opportunities to improve the economy cannot be ignored. However, it is also important to highlight the gaps between a mass movement and the geographical and heritage space alterations.
According to a survey conducted for CITUR, which indicates statistically a growth rate of foreigners and nationals of 34% in the first half of 2018. Although this is a positive situation and it can be a cause of celebration, it is also worrisome, due to the fact that the scourges bring with them a huge movement to a different place than the common one.
An example of it is given by the risk our children and teenagers face in relation to the scourge of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the tourist context.
That is why in this edition of the Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Unicolombo, Tourism Today presents the actions developed by students and teachers in favor of the prevention of ESCNNA and it also encourages good practices of responsible tourism.
The actions are framed in an area of reflection that requires the participation of all of the participants of the academy in coordination with the tourism sector, in order to add value to the fight and minimize risks.
I thank the student ‘s community, teachers and all the participants who participated and get involved in actions that lead us to grow not only in classrooms but also in their workplaces being preventive and dare to proclaim “Pilas con los Pelaos ".
