TOURISM TODAY

Events trek

My name is Jennyfer Buitrago Aldana, graduate from Unicolombo. In 2018, I decided to take a new challenge and travel to a new country. My goal was simple: I wanted to live like a local during my experience abroad.

I definitely made the best decision because in The United States I have really improved my English. I am grateful to Unicolombo because Thanks to this institution I learnt this second language, improving my grammar, speaking and listening. I graduated from Unicolombo with a bachelor in Tourism .

I will tell you a little about my experiences being an exchange student in USA. I have to say that I experienced different kinds of feelings: happiness, insecurity, fear, but mostly pride in having taken a step towards my dreams.

I made new friends in the training week in New York. They were largely positive. After that, I landed in California full of expectations. I was received with posters, love and awesome smiles. I adapted very quickly to the language, to the culture, to the routine, to driving... Also I'm taking ESL class in North Orange Community College. Furthermore, I participated in scholarship's event where I got one (courage award). It was one of the my first educational goal outside of Colombia.

In The United States, I visited Las Vegas, Hollywood, Hall of Fame in Los Angeles. I also went to the Central Park in Manhattan, Time Square In New York, Tahoe lake in California, bunch of museums and zoo, etc.; but one of the most interesting experience here is that I hang out with locals, learning more about their lifestyle, I understand their history, background, and what really matters to them. I have lived some special dates here, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial day, New year, Martin Luther King day, President´s day, and independence day.

I've known people, who wants to live this experience, my wise advise is coming here and improving your English and change yours lifestyle. Never is later. I'm one lucky Unicolombo graduate. You're the next.
