EL PITAL

The Pital is the most mountainous and elevated summit of El Salvador. It is one of the most important hills in the department of Chalatenango and has an elevation of 2,730 meters above sea level. In addition to cool climate, El Pital has a moist forest made up of trees such as pine, oak, oak and cypress.

The highest part of this hill is called Horqueta and is of great tourist attraction since it is the place where El Salvador borders Honduras.

The Pital is considered by people who like the cold weather one of the best places to be able to camp; The highest part to be able to camp is located at 2700 m.s.n.m, specifically between the two peaks of the mountain, so that it forms a wind corridor. In that sector of the mountain the temperature is to about 10 degrees Celsius less than the surrounding places although they are to few meters.
