sA Victor Harbor is one of South Australia’s iconic tourist destinations with its pristine beaches, imposing coastal cliffs and stunning landscape. Just an hour’s drive south of Adelaide, it has for generations been a favourite place for visitors seeking surf, sand and close wildlife encounters. Every winter Victor Harbor and its surrounds enjoy the return of Southern Right Whales to its waters. Thousands of visitors flock to the spectacular Victor Harbor coastline each year, gathering a top of cliffs and headlands with hope of catching a glimpse of these beautiful creatures. The SA Whale Centre, located in the heart of Victor Harbor, is a great place to learn more about these visitors from the deep and other marine life. Other popular attractions in Victor Harbor include The Bluff, a famous geographical landmark and Granite Island which can be accessed by a 600 metre causeway. Many visitors to Granite Island take the iconic horsedrawn tram but you can also walk across the causeway. The popular Granite Island Guided Nature Walks are a chance to spot some Little Penguins, while taking in the sheer beauty of the island. If you are keen to take in more of the magnificent vistas, there are many nature walks and trails that are bound to bring out the inner wildlife warrior in you. The trails vary in length, degree of difficulty, and the type of landscape you get close to. Some popular walks include the Granite Island Kaiki Trail, Hindmarsh River Walk, Heysen Trail and Hindmarsh Falls. Remember, it’s important to do your research and determine which trail suits you best. For those looking for a little more thrill, the Big Duck Boat Tours or Waitpinga Farm Quad Bike Adventure are worth checking out.
