Addition of master suite; remodel and design throughout house
This 12,000 sq. ft. home, set on 32 acres, unequivocally redefines the concept of a farmhouse.
Renotta Henson, serving as general contractor and interior designer, created a masterpiece of ingenuity, classic elegance and chic sophistication. The house reflects and is homage to the homeowner’ s life as doctor, artist, art collector, musician, chef, and animatronics designer and builder.
Quarter sawn oak and reclaimed barn wood floors with a wenge border affirm, but don’ t eclipse, other features of the foyer, drawing room and dining room. Each of these adjoining spaces expresses a confident approach to color, such as walls that are painted rich chocolate or those that are finished to resemble a distressed leather bomber’ s jacket, and faux finished metallic ceilings.
A potting room was converted into a bourbon bar that opens onto a secret garden with a lily pond. The honed travertine floor is a neutral balance to highly textured red walls and elaborate black silk curtains with gold fleur de lis.
A French Country chef’ s kitchen was the deciding factor for the homeowner’ s purchase of the house. Fully appointed with state-of the-art appliances, it has a large dining area and meets a two-story family room with a vaulted ceiling and balcony.
The addition to the home includes a sumptuous master suite that has a view of the property’ s lake and swimming pool. Wood beams from an old trading post on the Ohio River are juxtaposed with a stunning crystal and ceramic chandelier. A fireplace, morning bar with refrigerator and coffeemaker, and lush draperies and linens make the room a beautiful retreat.
Imposing Gothic stone arches provide architectural distinction to the master bath that is designed with a flagstone floor with a picture frame stone insert, see-through fireplace, copper soaking tub, and crystal chandelier. The capacious shower has a river rock floor and handchiseled surround with a glass and slate border. Three quarter inch water lines and a pressurized valve system were installed to accommodate the multiple water source shower system.
The lower level of the home is ideal for casual entertaining. Handscraped engineered floors are paired with stone-based barn wood columns. Three copper light fixtures hang above and saddle bar stools with tooled leather sit in front of the faux finished bar. It is equipped with a double sink, dishwasher, two warming drawers, ice machine, microwave and wine rack.
Three prized paintings of saloon scenes inspired the décor of the poker room that has a harlequin red patterned wall and sculpted rug.
