Master bath remodel
The remodel of this master bath was purchased at a silent auction at the Kosair Children’ s Hospital’ s Snow Ball. A collaborative effort of Wolford Building & Remodeling, Miller’ s Fancy Bath, and the homeowners, it’ s melding of contemporary and transitional styles epitomizes luxury. The design plays with different textures---industrial and organic, smooth and rough.
Soothing olive green walls provide a background in which each element can be dramatically expressed. Echoing the arches in the living room windows and above the home’ s front door, an arch of stacked stone columns is the focal point of the bath’ s large shower. Tumbled stone with whispers of copper is accentuated by glass-tiled niches. A tile border in the shower is carried out through banding on the walls of the room.
The floor’ s wood-like porcelain tile planks are reminiscent of the movement of the grain of warm pine. Varied widths are laid in a random pattern.
Separate Shaker style custom vanities of knotty alder wood with a warm, walnut finish sit below recessed medicine cabinets and sconce lighting. Alder wood is also used for open shelving. A Kohler Purist soaking tub with Brizo brushed nickel Virage faucets is dropped into a granite deck. The stone on the shower columns is repeated on the tub facing.
Natural light from a frosted art glass window with twig panels softly saturates the room. Art glass is iterated on the water closet door and closet door.
The room’ s center five-shaded brushed nickel light fixture correlates to the design of the ceiling fixture in the entrance to the room.
