“ I PREFER TO GO ON THE OFFENSIVE. IT’ S MORE RISKY, BUT IT’ S
ALSO MORE FUN!”
The Col de la Loze will once again be on the programme during the 2025 Tour. Does this prospect make you a little nervous after the setback you suffered there in 2023? No, I wouldn’ t say I’ m nervous about the idea, but I’ m obviously hoping to have much better legs in July than I did two years ago. It was one of the worst moments I’ ve ever had on my bike. I was totally drained. When I got to the summit, I thought I’ d lost everything: the podium, the top 10... In the end, things didn’ t turn out to be as catastrophic as I’ d imagined. I really have to thank my team for that. If Marc Soler hadn’ t been there to support me, I don’ t know how I would have survived...
Do you think you’ re stronger now than you were last season? I hope so! Every year, I learn more about myself, about racing and recovery. Consequently, even if the stats and data remain the same, I’ m convinced that there’ s always room for improvement, and that’ s the goal. Experience helps you to grow, you get a better idea of how to gauge and know your limits. I want to arrive at the start of the Tour de France in great shape, surrounded by a solid team and ready to take on my rivals. I think that’ s what everyone wants to see.
