J than a year after your success on the Champs- Élysées , are you now fully aware of the significance of what you achieved last July by winning the Tour de France ? I admit that I still sometimes wake up and wonder if it ’ s real , if I really won the Tour . There are so many great names |
on the race ’ s palmarès . To feature among them is quite incredible . But I think I ’ ve remained completely the same , a fairly calm person . I ’ m not a different Jonas sitting here today . As a rider , though , I ’ ve obviously evolved since I turned professional .

that took place last year in your home country ’ s capital , Copenhagen ? I knew that the team presentation in the Tivoli Gardens would be popular , but I was still surprised by the huge size of the crowd that turned out . It was crazy . I had tears in my eyes on the stage . It was one of the most incredible experiences I ’ ve had so far during my career . |
And how did it feel in the weeks following your return to Denmark and the triumphant reception you received in Copenhagen ? It was a bit strange . You work for months and months on end towards a certain goal , a lot of your everyday life is directed towards that goal , and when you manage to achieve that feat you do |
