Stepping up to a new level
Much is expected of Guillaume Martin. The Frenchman, 23rd on his Tour
debut in 2017 and 21st last year, is a solid performer and a good climber.
Could he perhaps be the next Warren Barguil? He could imitate the Breton’s
2017 performance, when he fi nished 10th overall and best climber! It takes
time to step up to a new level. Above all, he will need his team’s support.
By being aggressive, he could serve up a very beautiful Tour for the Belgian
squad, which will undoubtedly be well equipped to get into breaks from the
very fi rst day. This is a team that the Tour’s very grateful to have.
