THE TEAMS TEAM KATUSHA-ALPECIN SWITZERLAND MANAGER José Azevedo TEAM FOUNDED 2006 (Tinkoff Restaurants) UNDER CURRENT NAME SINCE 2017 Ilnur Zakarin B E R N A R D T H É V E N E T G I V E S H I S A N A LY S I S An unpredictable team What can we say for certain about this Swiss team? Aft er the departure of Marcel Kittel, the winner of 14 Tour stages who broke his contract in May in order to take a break from cycling, the team will be looking to Ilnur Zakarin. While the Russian is certainly motivated, he’s still a relative mystery. But he was 9th last year and has podiumed at the Vuelta, so he can pull off a surprise. We’ll have to wait until we fi nd out the team line-up to fully understand this team’s strategy and determine its primary objectives depending on Zakarin’s form. It’s diffi cult to predict how this team’s Tour will unfold...
