Quwwat-ul-islam Mosque
Quwwat-ul-islam mosque wass built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak. It was the first mosque in Delhi built after the Islamic conquest India.It work was started in 1193 A.D, later some changes were done by Iltutmish in 1230 A.D and Ala-ud-din Khilji in 1315 A.D.
Quwwat-ul-islam Mosque is a brilliant mixture of Hindu and Islamic architecture styles. It have beautiful carved ceilings and pillars ornated with Hindu motifs like bells,cows,branches,leaves and calligraphic carved transcription of Quran. It is the best example of Islamic and hindu artistic pattern
Tomb of Iltutmish
The tomb of Iltutmish was bult in 1235 A.D by Shamsud-din-Iltutmish itself. Iltutmish is the slave and later the son-in-law of Qutub-ud-din Aibak. He was the 3rd ruler of the Mamluk dynasty. He rules Delhi sultanate fom 1211 to 1236. The tomb of Iltutmish is a plain square chamber of red sanstone, there are inscription on the wall, geometric pattern in the enterance and on the interior.
Iron Pillar
Iron Pillar is counted in one of Delhiās most curious structure. The pillar is nearly 24 fts and weight of 6 tons and made of 98% wrought iron. The existence of the pillar is remain unsolved. Some peoples says it is made in honor of Hindu God, Vishnu because it has inscription of Brahmi characters while some peoples says it was made in the memory of the king Chandragupta. There are several inscriptions found in pillar, the oldest one is a six line three stanza Sanskrit in verse form. The name of Chandra is also mentioned in the 3rd verse.
The original location of pillar is still a subject of decision and many historians and scientists are studying on it.
