Part 6: EREC and Prewitt Farms Stops
We’re learning about some of the challenges that growers have
with soil, water and crop quality, like insects and subsidence, at
the Everglades Research and Education Center stop.
We can see on Clem’s “ruler” that subsidence has slowed down a lot in recent
years because of the variety of Best Management Practices being used.
At Prewitt Farms, everyone on the tour
gets a taste of sugarcane – and I don’t
just mean planting and harvesting. We’re
eating some sugarcane itself!
See how we birds like to work with sugarcane growers?
