Part 1: Wickes,
Seven Sisters
WHERE ?
An outer London area at the northern-most end of
Seven Sisters Road. Part of the A503 trunk road that
meets Tottenham High Road before intersecting with
the M25. It is an area of the city that previously func-
tioned predominantly for industry and low cost hous-
ing, but is becoming increasingly residential. It’s strate-
gic location makes it a busy thoroughfare for transport
out of London.
WHY HERE?
The chosen area of study was initially arbitrary, start-

the civic centre of Tottenham. The site is chosen for its
ordinariness, its lack of occasion or sense of particular
identity. It is eventually defined by territories of con-
