PACESETTERS

Catch the Pacing Bus

Whether you’ re aiming for a 50-minute finish or just want to get to the finish at the Totalsports Women’ s Race 10km in Cape Town, you can run with one of our official pacesetting buses and let our experienced Totalsports Women’ s Race Pacesetters help you achieve your race goal. And take note, our pacesetters are all women, in celebration of Women’ s Month!

At the front end of the Totalsports Women’ s Race 10km, the leading women will be looking to run a time of around 32 or 33 minutes, if not faster, in order to win the race. However, they will not be the only athletes aiming for a time goal when the starting gun is fired. All runners taking part in the race, right the way to the back of the pack, will have their own race goals and pacing targets to chase. For that reason, there will be official Totalsports Women’ s Race Pacesetters in action on race day, in both the 10km and 5km races, and all runners are invited to catch one of the‘ buses’ driven by these experienced volunteers, who will help you to reach your target time.

Where to Find the Pacers
You will be able to identify the official pacesetters on race day by their Nike kit and official pacing flags, showing their target times and their names. We’ ve asked all the pacesetters to be at the start about 30 minutes before the race start, and to meet in the pre-race warmup area, so that you can meet them, get ready with them, and then walk with them to the start area about 20 minutes before the race
10km – 60 minutes Gloria Ngcobo
10km – 90 minutes Lebo Mathatho
5km – 40 minutes Megan Kluyts
10km – 70 minutes Diana Jansen
10km – Finish Lerato Mokhaneli
5km – 45 minutes Shadè Jansen start. The pacesetters will line up according to their pace times, with faster pacesetters near the front of the field, and slower pacesetters closer to the back of the field.
So, look out for the pacesetters with the flags at the start, or along the route, and either run with them in the bus, or use them as a gauge of your own pace and finishing time.
