FEEDBACK
Ric Marini
Ric Marini, 20 Ultra and 4 Half medals, multiple wins in national 1000km competition with over 100,000km in race kilometres:
“ I think Stillwater Sports coming on board will be beneficial for the race and the runners. Their experience with big races should enhance many aspects of the event. For example, registration, marshalling and cut-off points, and refreshment stations. Ideally, Two Oceans and Stillwater Sports should re-introduce water sachets for most refreshment stations and provide sufficient bins and clean-up teams to manage the disposal of the refreshment items.”
“ Running marathons and ultras with cups and refill stations for bottles doesn’ t work. It causes chaos and delays, that negatively impact runners, their times and their achievements. For example, last year there were 800 runners who didn’ t make the final Two Oceans cut-off time, including Louis Massyn. Many of them would have been affected by the delay of waiting for cups to be filled, and the fact that cups don’ t provide sufficient hydration. Many people aren’ t aware of these issues, but it’ s a problem for distance running.”

Sharon Bosch
Wendal Smith, 14 Ultra medals, local club chairperson and event organiser:
“ I think it was a good move to get Stillwater Sports involved, as they have a good track record with events such as the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. I also think that‘ mother bodies’ should not be organising events, they must just oversee things, and make sure that whatever they have planned is put into action and executed. I hope this partnership will be a long and fruitful one, and to the benefit of the runners and the Two Oceans brand.”
Sharon Bosch, 32 Ultra medals, co-holder of record for most TTOM finishes by a woman:
“ I am going for my 33rd Two Oceans Ultra this year, and have never had a problem with the organisation of the event until recent years, when plans seemingly went awry as a result of personal agendas and interests. My only vision is the continuation of this prestigious event, and I was devastated at the negative publicity following this year’ s race. I welcome Stillwater Sports coming on board, as they have the experience to oversee such an event. The continuation of the Two Oceans is the ultimate goal of this legacy race.”

Wietse van der Westhuizen
Wietse van der Westhuizen, 35 Ultra medals, TOM NPC Board Member and local event organiser:
“ This is the best news since sliced bread! You can’ t ask a group of amateurs to organise an event like this in their spare time any more, as the race is too big for part-time organisers. I am so glad that Stillwater Sports is now on board, and I think with them, we’ ve got a winner, as they know what they’ re doing when it comes to road running events. Also, they’ ve brought in Renée Jordaan, who has organised some of the biggest events in SA and adds even more valuable experience and knowledge of ultra events to the Stillwater team. I also think they’ re going to bring in some big sponsors, as well, so it’ s very exciting times for the Two Oceans.”
The Stillwater Sports team appreciates all the positive feedback, and is determined to make the 2026 edition of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon the best ever.
