The 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Launch Function took place on 28 January at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, with stalwarts and sponsors celebrated, and big news for the elite athletes unveiled!
A
memorable evening in Cape Town saw the 2026 event officially launched in style, with race organisers, sponsors and service providers rubbing shoulders with elite athletes, Blue Number Club legends, media and friends of the event. The programme included short Q & As with new sponsors, a chat with defending men’ s Ultra champion from Lesotho, Khoarahlane Seutloali, and a special recorded greeting from six-time women’ s defending champion, Gerda Steyn of South Africa.
Two special moments saw a group of Blue Number Club stalwarts with 30 or 40 medals honoured on stage, as well as all the event staff present at the launch, and the big news announced on the night was the increase of the prize purse to a massive R2.6 million across the Ultra and Half Marathon events!
Once the formal programme concluded, guests celebrated the beautiful evening setting at Kirstenbosch with refreshments and great conversation, and here are a few photos from the function.
