Race T-shirts throughout the years
Many runners believe that a race T-shirt can only be worn by runners who have completed that race – and few are worn with as much pride as the Two Oceans Marathon T-shirt ! As a result , a few of the really old T-shirts from yesteryear still regularly make an appearance at club runs and time trials , proudly worn by the ‘ old salts ’ who can tell stories of the grand old days of the race . And one of the most eagerly awaited aspects of each year ’ s race is the unveiling of the race Tee , which quickly gets shared on social media platforms .
Admittedly , the design of the shirts was fairly standard from the mid 1970 ’ s to the early 1990 ’ s , but since then the designs have been quite colourful and creative . Everyone who has run this race will have their favourite shirt , whether it ’ s because of an eye-catching design , or because that particular shirt brings back memories of a PB or a hard-earned medal .
