Selected Barrie Sport Personalities are honoured
each year by the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame Society.
The Society honours them by induction and awards.
Nominations of candidates for these honours are
received by the Society during January
and February of each year.

INDUCTEES,
ATHLETES, BUILDER

Only members of the society are eligible
to nominate candidates for Induction.
The Society’s website outlines the criteria
for candidates in detail. Please go to
www.bshof.ca, click on documents, then
go to bylaws. A shorter version of the
criteria is included here.

ATHLETES

• Must be human,
• A resident of Barrie or considered as
being from Barrie by the media and
press.
• Have completed their career in a sport
that is physical, competitive, adheres to
standard rules in a multi–sport event i.e.
Olympics, Pan Am and Canada games.

BUILDER

May include officials, owners, trainers,
coaches, etc. whose work over an

extended period of time at a high level of contribution
to the sports community.
The Barrie Sports Hall of Fame Society invites the Public
to nominate candidates for the following awards.
Criteria for each award differs for each category.
Details are found on the website.

COACH/ TEAM OFFICIAL
OF THE YEAR

• Coaching had to be voluntary in nature.
• No age restriction,
• Coaching duties had to be performed
within City of Barrie.

JOHN CRAWLEY LIFETIME
ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

• Must be a resident of Barrie or
contributed within the City of Barrie.
• Worked prominently in one or more
sport at the Simcoe County or
Provincial level.
