DJ SPOTLIGHT
In 2017 new talent took over the
NRR airwaves. A passionate,
northern lass who loves her indie
artists with fervor and tenacity.
What band do you
play on your show,
that you would want
to see live, and get
an
interview
from?
ARIEL: Its always a huge honor and
pleasure to take in a live show and/or
interview an artist. One I often think of
is Bobaflex. I have actually seen them
numerous times and they always bring
something new to each show. A com-
pletely kick ass, rock killing machine
with a distinct unity. They are not only
making a name for themselves but they
also support other local bands from all
over the country. That is impressive and
to get their personal thoughts from such
a band that’s real and raw to me would
be simply amazing.
What
inspired
you
to become a DJ?
ARIEL: My first memory as a child
was my grandmother and brother sing-
ing the Beatles to me. When I got old
enough to steal records from my brothers
collection I would blast music from my
room with the windows wide open pre-
tending there was a huge crowd. Its been
in my blood since then.
Who has been the most
positive influence on
you in your life and why?
ARIEL: The most positive influence
on my life has been my father. Although
he passed away when I was just thirteen,
he instilled a valuable lesson in me by the
way he lived. He was the first man in the
U.S. to be on the home dialysis machine
due to kidney failure. So although he was
ve ry sick and life was difficult I always
saw him happy and living life to the full-
est. He never backed down from living
out his dreams no matter the situation.
Much love to you Dad for being my hero.
What’s in the Locket?
ARIEL: Ahh, good question. But that
is something I cannot tell. Its mysteries are
held by the power of music. As you tune into
the show you’ll understand.
If you had the power to
change something in re-
gards to the music indus-
try and/or music scenes
worldwide, what would
you change and why?
ARIEL: A colleague and I were talking
about this very issue just recently. I think the
one thing I would change within the scene
also applies to life in general. That people
would help others more and not take ad-
vantage of others. We all wish to succeed
and the best way is through honesty. The
platform here at NRR is based off those
