One of the brightest new stars to join Neue Regel Radio has a connection to NRR ’ s past and is now part of the New Order ’ s future .
Your shows are supporting many independent bands of varying rock . But mainstream .. who are your favorites , both long time and newer ?
ADDAM : A long time mainstream band is Poison . A newer mainstream band is actually kind of hard for me . I don ’ t listen to FM radio anymore . I ’ m going to go with Halestorm for this one .
How did you get into this DJ ’ ing thing ?
ADDAM : Short version - I got into DJ ’ ing when Rich and Nip did their monthly live Uncharted Kaos shows . I came up with a playlist for one of those shows . Rich surprised me by having me just in the co-host seat with Nip . That led to the Lair Facebook page . A few months after that the show was born .
What are the most important factors for you choosing independent artists to play on air ?
ADDAM : Sound quality of the music . Whether that is the quality of the recording or the band . Regardless of the genre , if the sound quality is poor , I figure if I don ’ t want to listen to it , those tuning in won ’ t want to listen either .
What is one mistake you see a lot of up and coming DJ ’ s making ? What advice would you give to aspiring DJ ’ s ?
ADDAM : Trying to be perfect . This is a live performance . Stuff will happen . Roll with it . Advice , don ’ t tell yourself you can ’ t talk on the radio . You will be nervous but you will get into the flow of the show and get over that .
As a parent of a child with Autism , do you find music to be a communication tool ? ADDAM : I think music , playing the drums , has made him feel better about himself . The biggest problem for him was feeling different and being shy . But since he took up the drums he ’ s part of something , something normal and something he can take pride in . That has opened him up with his peers .
What is one of your unfulfilled dreams as of this point in your life ? ADDAM : That I have not flown in out of no where in red and gold armor and said “ I am Ironman .”
