TOZ caught up with Sarah Keetch , Founding Member & Production Manager of the Festival . “ I think everyone is looking forward to getting back to some form of live events . For most of us we have felt the loss significantly and many personnel involved have suffered without any financial assistance . Events were the first to close , and it looks like they will be the last to open . However , with a test event just this last weekend in Liverpool , the Government are now assessing the impact of no social distancing on a crowd of giggers , who had to prove they were Covidnegative before attending . It is looking far more optimistic now and therefore we are full steam ahead for our events in the Winter ”
Our very own The Highlander hosts each event , and along with the UAH team , then promotes and interviews the bands on his Sunday night Rock Show .
“ The Sophie Lancaster Foundation have had a long-standing relationship with Download and Bloodstock Festival and host a stall there each year . This has allowed us to promote our events at these sold-out Festivals and expose our bands to a larger audience . Most bands that play , do so without a fee to support the charity , but we try to reciprocate with promotion and marketing from the point a band agrees to take part in Unite Against Hate . We find this works well for the bands and we have been very fortunate to book many acts that have then gone on to grace the stages of Download Festival ! We feel we are a good stepping-stone for many bands and pride ourselves on finding ‘ the next big act ’ and so far , it appears to be working !”
