It ’ s takes a ton of courage to give up on a dream for the sake of self-preservation . Crystal Ignite is a survivor ! She is also a warrior , whether it ’ s her music or her fight to help children of abuse . After a tumultus few years in America with her former band Belusira , she found herself burned out and unsure about her musical future . Crystal returned home to her native Australia and found peace and purpose . She reconnected with some of her former Belusira bandmates and began writing amazing new music , found new love and began her crusade to save children from sexual abuse .

The structure of your songs are amazing , the multilayered vocals and sweeping melodies . how do you get all of that out of one song ?
CRYSTAL : Well , I mean , there ’ s a lot of layers every song is different , for some it will start with a vocal idea , what ' s awesome is that because its my project and I ' m producing it , its solely my vision , so I get the final say on what pieces stay , and go and what not . I ’ m in the driver ’ s seat there , which is amazing . it ' s Crystal Ignite , rather than a group setting where you have to make compromise . I listen to a really big range of music . You know , I really look for the stuff . I listen to stuff that ’ s really pushes the envelope , and you know , that inspires me . I really wanted to create my own sound . I search for sounds that push the boundaries and that inspire me . With this music I really wanted to create my own sound , and I think because I have and he made pop structured , incredible , edgy music . It ’ s filled with hooks , and I love hooks . I ’ m about hook after hook after hook . I really try to push the envelope . Sometimes a melody will vocally come naturally , and it ’ ll be really amazing , but sometimes , I rewrite . Sometimes , there ’ s three or four different choruses or 10 different choruses before the right one is reached . It ’ s got to just feel , and look right , it ’ s all subjective , but for me and my tastes , I ’ ve got to be happy with it , but at a point where it moves me . I don ’ t just sign off on something that ’ s like an eight out of 10 . My standards are to get it to where I think it ’ s a 10 out of 10 , And I ’ m pushing the envelope . I ’ m not competing with anyone but myself . I ’ m not looking outside of myself in my realm , because that ’ s the outside of you . It should be inspiration – the only competitors should be yourself . You should always be raising the bar for your previous work . I think that there ’ s people out there that go wrong – where they ’ re just focusing so much energy outside on jealousy and competitiveness . I don ’ t like that side of things . And so yeah , it ’ s all about that .
