they feel anymore . The only music that ’ s really sticking these days in the long run is stuff that actually means something . There are artists out there that put out these catchy one hit wonders or whatever , and it pops up on the charts and cool , cool . That doesn ’ t mean anything . It goes away . Then I think that there ’ s two types of artists , There ’ s artists that you listen to , and this artist that you actually dive into their records and care about what they ’ re feeling and what they ’ re meaning . Some artists do very well actually making a career off just stuff that ’ s easy to listen to , and they do it a bunch of times .
We want to write music that makes people dive into the album . I think everyone that knows anything about our band knows that it goes very deep . There ’ s a whole picture there to pay attention to , and we pride ourselves in that . When we ’ re out on tour , we ’ re not acting like a stupid rocker dude , all badass . We ’ re just fucking nerds that make music and have a good time , and people know we ’ re kind of goofy .
We like interacting with our fans on Twitter and stuff like that in really funny ways . To us , we would we try to make it all about the music and nothing else . Some bands are good at creating an experience their fans want , and they like to dress up and do crazy hair makeup or whatever , and that ’ s totally fine . Our thing , personally , is just the music . That ’ s the only reason that we do it . We ’ re trying to be pretty prominent about that .
What were some of the bands that introduced you to this writing style ? How much deeper you can go on the lyrics to be nerdy , but yet true ? and cool ?
JAMES : I think there ’ s two bands that really did it for me that I realized , not just the music , but also the vibe . All of these little things add up in my head to me . The font of your band name and stuff like that and the way your art looks . I think all that stuff cultivates a certain feeling around every band , and I ’ m sure not
