something , and we think , ‘ how could they get there ?’ Or that we ’ ll never do that , or I ’ ll never be there . Then we find ourselves there , we see those little seeds of that in our own conversations or thoughts . So , I ’ m like , no , we ’ re not going to do that . I have to be super intentional to be like , what am I going to say ? Is there something I could sing ? Is there something I could live out , so that if this lie ever comes in , and I am militant about it , I mean I talk about this song as a militant cry , not only to my own self . There is just death on the other side . Just like destruction in my heart and my soul to my relationships , we ’ re not guaranteed tomorrow . I ’ m going to be militant and against that in my own thought process . I ’ m going to forgive you . I ’ m going to be , “ No ! We ’ re going to overcome that .” I ’ m going to deal with that . I ’ m going to say I ’ m sorry if I ’ m leading to our hopeless place . I ’ m gonna choose to focus on what I do know , not on what I don ’ t know . And there ’ s so many good things that I ’ ve learned . So I can sit there and focus on the things that I know are good and that I know are victorious and that I ’ ve seen the overcoming . And in the season , it feels like forever .
Last year you released “ The Decree ” and this year “ State of Me ”. Is there a full-length coming , and how far along is it ?
LACEY : I wish it was done . Again , there ’ s a timing issue and I think it ’ ll come out once it ’ s supposed to . I do believe that it ’ s gonna come out around the summer . There are several songs written and in their mutation form . The mutation process is still changing . This song I didn ’ t think was finished . I mean , it came out before I was done . My husband told me , we just put up a trailer for the video for the song , and I was like , wait , why ? Because it ’ s coming out and I ’ m like , Is it done ( she laughs )? I would have added a guitar solo in there . He ’ s like , well , it didn ’ t need it . I ’ m like , okay you know , my husband is the one who does the solo , so if he didn ’ t want to do it , you know , what can I say ? But I really
pushed him on that for “ The Decree .” I ’ m like , no , you need to do a solo right here . This is gonna be awesome . I don ’ t ever tell people this , when we did “ The Decree ,” there ’ s a scripture that says that musicians were to prophecy their instruments . I thought that was really powerful , speaking through the notes . I remember this with Dimebag one time in an interview when they asked him where does all that ability come from ? He points to God .
