MASTERCLASS: Pokémon X and Y secrets revealed This week: MEWTWO Mewtwo, Pokémon No.150’s inclusion in Gen VI of Pokémon has been no secret during the development of the two new games, but how do we catch him and more importantly, how do we get one of his two new evolutions? Finding Mewtwo: 1. Once you have become the Pokemon Champion you will need to go back to the Pokemon Village where the man blocking the cave near the top left corner has gone. 2. Go inside the cave and you will find Mewtwo with its back against the door. 3. SAVE NOW! Or risk losing this monster forever if you accidentally make him faint. 4. Talk to Mewtwo and watch the cut scene that follows. 5. This will start the fight and allow you to catch him Choosing the right Pokéball: Standard Poké balls and Great balls aren’t going to cut it in this fight. Whilst the obvious choice would be to throw your Master Ball at Mewtwo, my recommendation to begin with would be the Dusk Ball as you receive a 3.5X chance of catching the critter with you being in a cave. As you get further into the battle though you may want to switch to timer balls as once you have reached a certain number of turns you will receive a 4x multiplier for catching monsters. Mewtwo X and Y: Once you have caught this elusive Psychic type you will receive a Mewtwonite that allows a mega evolution. We all knew that Mewtwo would receive at least one Mega Evolution based on the artwork of Mega Mewtwo Y leaked a few months before the games release, but which mega stone you receive, like with Charizard will depend entirely on the version of the game you have, So if you bought X and feel that Mewtwo’s fighting form isn’t for you, I suggest you get trading on the Wonder trade for someone with a Mewtwo holding Mewtonite Y.
