My love for playing
soccer really kicked in
(excuse the pun)
when I first saw
George Best on TV. I
would have been
about 8 years old.
As young as I was I did
not see Georgie boy as
a soccer player I saw
him as an entertainer,
an artist. A player who
got you out of your seat
whenever he had the
ball. A player you tried
to emulated outside on
the street when playing
against your friends.
I can still remember
the 1970 goal George
best scored against
against Chelsea as if it
was yesterday The pitch
was far below the
standard of today's
playing surface, yet
somehow the ball was
always under control. A
terrific first touch with
his left foot,
withstanding a scything

showing unbelievable
