Although you have had a successful career, looking back are there some things you would you change or have done differently. I have enjoyed a great career. Football has been very good to me, whether as a player or coach. If I look back on my playing career I think I could certainly have had more self belief. I was too critical of myself, which obviously is not good and on many occasions I have spoken to young players who are coming through, telling them not to be so hard on themselves and have more belief in their ability. I think that self doubt originated from being plucked out of Queens Park which was an amateur club and suddenly playing with a massive club like Everton. It was a huge step up and there was a need in me to keep proving myself every day to the manager, the coaching staff and the players. This attitude definitely affected me, even though I had a really good career. When I. Look back at my coaching career, which is in contrast to my playing career. I have always felt comfortable coaching and feel that I am good at it. That’s not me being bigheaded butI feel really comfortable on the training field regardless of the level of player I am working with. Possibly my biggest regret, although it may be too late now, is that I didn’t stay in management after leaving Sheffield Wednesday. I enjoy management and the challenge it presents. Overall I look back to my days as a Queens Park player and what I have achieved since with a sense of pride. " I would have accepted the Norwich job if it had been offered to me"
