Rob Harrington clearly remembers that day in 1999 when he decided he wanted to become a coach. Leaving school at sixteen and after five years of doing bits of everything, now aged twenty one, he made the decision that would change his life.

He went back into education studying for 2 years at college, obtaining his first FA certificates & working part time with the community programs at Northampton Town and the now extinct Rushden & Diamonds FC before being accepted on the BSc Science of Coaching degree course at Liverpool John Moores University.

Sending letters to Liverpool FC & Everton FC hoping for a coaching placement as part of his degree course Rob got a phone call from Liverpool FC Academy coach John Owens, inviting him to speak with him in more detail. After which he was invited to assist with their U7 pre academy group and do some match analysis for the U12s.

As a boyhood Liverpool fan he couldn’t believe it.

Over a three year period while at university Rob had visited Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers & Crewe Alexandra to study coaches and gain valuable knowledge on what is good practice when working with young players.

After four years working at Rushton Diamonds applying his methodology, Rob decided that to move to another continent and headed off to the USA before finally settling in Puebla, Mexico. There he transformed a disused five aside pitch into a coaching centre, that apart from attracting around 150 kids a week, he was now providing coach education to parents and team managers from throughout the region.
