Farr 40 teve lugar de 15-18 de Outubro, em
São Francisco, EUA.
Organizado pela St. Francis Yacht Club, o
Rolex Farr 40 World acolheu 19 participantes internacionais
— incluindo as equipes da Austrália, Canadá, Alemanha,
Itália, México, Turquia e Estados Unidos. A competição teve
origem em 1998 e é patrocinada pela Rolex desde 2001.
As regras da classe Farr 40 garantem uma competição
democrática justa. Os barcos one-design são verificados e
controlados para garantir que são rigorosamente iguais. O
dono do barco governa o leme e é apoiado por um condutor,
estrategista profiss ional, enquanto a composição de uma forte
tripulação de dez inclui não mais do que quatro marinheiros
profissionais. A fórmula é simples — o barco que navega
melhor vence.
The 17th edition of the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship took
place from 15-18 October in San Francisco, USA.
Hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club, the 2014 Rolex Farr
40 Worlds welcomed 19 international entrants — comprising
teams from Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Turkey
and the United States. The competition was inaugurated in
1998 and has been sponsored by Rolex since 2001.
Farr 40 class rules ensure fair, democratic competition.
The one-design boats are stringently checked and controlled
to ensure they are equal. The boat’s owner must helm. He is
supported by a driven, professional tactician while the makeup of the ten-strong crew must comprise no more than four
professional sailors. The formula is simple – the boat which
sails best wins.
