Torch: U.S. Volume LXIV Winter 2014-2015 | Page 10

Describe your ideal home.

In my ideal home, I can rest whenever I would like (because I like to

work otherwise). Terra Somnii (Dream Land) is a home for all, where all can be comfortable with themselves and others. There are late nights of song, dance, and laughter, and waking up from a deep, deep sleep past noon.

What are you wearing?

The centerpiece of my outfit is my purple robe. My Cookie Monster PJ pants represent the sweet life in Dream Land :) My slipper socks are oversized because whatever’s comfy works in Terra Somnii!

What drink are you sipping?

Warm milk with mango-drink powder mixed into it (think of Nesquik but mango-style— I swear, it’s amazing!)

What piece of Greek or Roman art would be the

centerpiece of your showcase?

Nike of Samothrace (or Winged Victory). While the artwork depicts victory, the wings also give a dream-like atmosphere. It’s chill.

On which island in the ancient Mediterranean would you

make your home?

Delos— if you would be willing to be the abode of my home Terra Somnia—; you will never be rich in coffee and tea. Incessant comfiness of luxurious comforters will always prevail, and you will sing lullabies from the voices of the JCL choir; for truly your own voice is not as freaking amazing as theirs are. (Adapted from a Homeric Hymn to Delian Apollo)

Describe your ideal home.

Well, wherever I end up. I just hope there's at least 10 loving puppies to keep me company. I'd like to live in an old-school town house with a wood burning fireplace.

What are you wearing?

A snuggie.

What drink are you sipping?

Hot peppermint tea.

What piece of Greek or Roman art would

be the centerpiece of your showcase?

The Birth of Venus, hands down.

On which island in the ancient

Mediterranean would you make your

home?

Santorini.

Describe your ideal home.

My ideal home would be a simple cottage where I could study the classics, paint, write poetry, and cook to my heart’s content. Of course, the most impressive parts of my home would be a reading room and of course, a gorgeous, state of the art kitchen overlooking the sea.

What are you wearing?

In this paradise, I would be wearing my favorite neon maxi dress.

What drink are you sipping?

Sweet iced tea. I’m pretty sure nectar would taste just like Sweet Tea.

What piece of Greek or Roman art would be

the centerpiece of your showcase?

At the centerpiece of my showcase would be the frescoed walls of Livia Drusilla’s underground triclinium. Of course, they would be part of my own dining room where I would entertain my friends with carefully orchestrated feasts.

On which island in the ancient

Mediterranean would you make your

home?

My home would be on the beautiful island of Capri. perhaps perched upon the hills where the wild goats like to roam. The views are spectacular.
