"My fifth nationals this past summer was one to remember. Whenever I remember catching up with Wisconinites, or Cheeseheads, I have swam against for years now at Olympika, discussing different ways of teaching Latin with Maine, or helping California JCL practice Certamen questions in the stand before spirit, my commitment is always restored. The fellowships ended before midnight so a huge thank you to organizers. I have checked in with several people I met at nationals across the country at various Certamen tournaments, and that has made me even more grateful for Nats. This community is so wonderful, and has inspired me to find something similar for college. Thank you so much for everyone who put in time to make Nationals possible, and I look forward to Indiana! Optimam fortunam omnes!"
"I had such a great time at nationals! This past year was my second year attending, and it couldn't have been more fun! I tried to do all the activities I could, so I participated in Ludi, Olympika, Academic Contests, and more! I also made friends from all over the country that I still talk to today! I would highly recommend attending!"
"Jumping up and down merrily, bonding with delightfully dear friends over delectably delicious dinners — what could be better? Truly, I have no idea, and I am incredibly fortunate to have been a part of the marvelous event that I am describing.
Latin Nationals—hosted in the beautiful campus of Miami University Ohio— was truly an unforgettable experience, one that I never would have expected to have enjoyed so much. To me, it just seemed like more endless hours of school—over the summer too! Thankfully, I let myself venture out of my comfort zone, nervously adding my name to the list of Dreher attendees. What a wonderful decision that turned out to be.
Not only did my love of the language deepen, I also got to experience a community of like-minded people. Hundreds of kids joining together in spirit songs and intense ludi sports was more fun than I could have imagined.
Thus, I urge the curious to branch out of their regular routine. Don’t let your next summer pass without joining the most welcoming cult, otherwise known as the National Junior Classical League."
