"Salvete omnes!

It’s been rather quiet up north over the last semester, as many are finishing up finals and tests for the summer. As the year’s been wrapping to a close, the sun is starting to come out and we’ve definitely been going out a lot to enjoy it! We’ve stopped having a Latin class at our local homeschool as the school year ended and we’ve just been having some time to chill and unwind with our own members. As it’s time to pass the torch (figuratively) since my sister and I are graduating, we’re unsure what might happen next, but I think it’ll be great!"

"Salvete and χαιρετε from the sunny California JCL!

Since my last update, the CAJCL held its annual state convention, where hundreds of California JCLers from across the state gathered at St. Francis High School for two days of Latin-filled fun. At states, we bonded with JCFriends new and old, made delicious edible mosaics, scavenger hunted, played tough rounds of Certamen, attended interesting colloquia, and elected our new board for 2026-2027. At every state convention I attend, I am constantly in awe of the wonderful community the CAJCL has: when JCLers meet again for the first time since nationals, they return to their old rhythms as if no time has passed, and at the same time everyone is willing to make new friends. For some California JCLers, this convention was the first. For others, it was their fourth or seventh, and we bid a sad but grateful valete to all of the CAJCL’s graduating seniors as states ended; their contributions have helped make the CAJCL such a vibrant, welcoming place.

As California gears up to have an amazing, unforgettable time at nationals this summer, follow us on Instagram (@cajcl) for more details. Also be sure to check out the most recent issue of the Nuntius Californiensis (our state JCL publication) at cajcl.org/nuntius."

"The GJCL ended the year with a bang as our state convention at Rock Eagle Convention Center was a smashing success! We held our state convention Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29, and with over 500 convention-goers, the GJCL had a record breaking year. Scholars were able to participate in a variety of activities from hard-core Ludi and Olympika events to community-bonding stargazing. Our GJCLers not only showed off their sportsmanship and great camaraderie but also their academic commitment as they partook in testing blocks and competitive Certamen. Our JCL is now planning for the upcoming NJCL convention, for which we will be bringing the best of what Georgia has to offer, from academics to spirit. We are looking forward to another amazing year with our chapters!"
