Olivia Chen, 2025-2026 NJCL Editor
The Junior Classical League fosters academic excellence, a sense of community, and most importantly – gives rise to future leaders. As delegates enjoyed various activities during the convention, human bulletin boards and scattered flyers filled the humid campus. Candidates ran for national office, hoping to inspire their peers, shape the future of the JCL, and give back to this organization that nurtured their growth.
The Nominations Committee Meeting formally launched the election process with twelve prefiled candidates. There were two candidates for editor: Olivia Chen of Massachusetts and Joseph Nardo Tennessee. Two candidates – Addison Drumm of Wisconsin and Aanshi Patel of Georgia – ran for historian. The office of parliamentarian was in a state of emergency, as only one candidate – Kai Benton of Texas – prefiled. Similarly, only Ameera Ramzan of California prefiled for the office of communications coordinator. Then, two candidates, Sophia Kantsevoy of Maryland and Emma Kozubal of New Jersey, stepped up to the office of second vice president. Katherine Buescher of Kentucky and Stella Anderson of New York ran for first vice president. Finally, two candidates prefiled for president: Courtney Jolly of South Carolina and Reesey Lai of Virginia.
Nominations from the floor for the states of emergency of communications coordinator and parliamentarian were called. There were no nominations, so the meeting proceeded in reverse gavel order, beginning with the office of editor.
