Salvete omnes!

State convention is quickly coming up! In order to prepare for our State Convention at the end of January, we are reviewing amendments to our constitution, planning spirit themes, and getting in the WJCL spirit. Other than State, we also recently had a Pickleball fundraiser and a service projects where we built Owl houses for local bird sanctuaries.

Since our last update, Virginia has been working very hard over the fall to (mainly) prepare for our 2024 VJCL convention, and participated in the 2024 NJCL convention. At Nationals our parliamentarian attended on behalf of Virginia all amendment and election related meetings and cast one of Virginia’s two votes for the new national officers and the proposed national amendments. Our President and 1st Vice president worked tirelessly hosting Spirit Castra, running spirit, and nightly fellowships for our delegation. I’m proud to say that we received 1st place in the scrapbook contest!

In the time leading up to the convention, our President handled our annual “Coin-wars” initiative that would help raise money for several different charities. As Editor I published the Fall Forum, detailing VJCL’s experience at Nationals. Our parliamentarian finalized three different amendments (including a nom-com and plurality amendment) that were all passed at our 2024 convention. Our 1st VP, Historian, and I, all worked on judging the publicity, scrapbook, and publications contest respectively. Our 2nd VP worked on judging their contest (spirit) over the actual days of convention themselves. The Historian and I, during convention, consistently took notes and pictures of every event occurring. The Historian compiled a photo drive for our 2024 convention. And finally, at this recent convention, the 23-24 officers handed over their positions to the 24-25 new VJCL officers. We can’t wait to see what this new era will bring us!
