Salvete JCLers!

This past year, we have been working on a book called Arbor Medicinae, which was officially published in late January 2025, and would like to share it with you all! This book is dedicated to exhibiting the deeply rooted connection between the classics and the field of medicine. There are so many terms and stories of the ancient world that are directly visible in the modern medical field.

The book includes many terms derived from Latin, split into sections by system (cardiovascular, skeletal, muscular, etc.) along with hand drawn illustrations throughout. Additionally, each chapter ends with a mythological story tied to a medical term from that chapter's system.

We hope you enjoy this book, whether you are an aspiring healthcare professional or just want to know more about how Latin can be used in your day-to-day lives!

Multas gratias tibi agimus,

Krish Vasudev, & Dr. Ronald D. Roessler

Thank you so much to everyone who’s been attending our Game Nights! Our most recent event was on February 8, and I loved seeing our JCLove grow stronger — even when we’re miles apart! At the Game Nights, we play games like Jackbox Games, Gartic Phone, Skribbl.io, and more! If you ever have game suggestions or want to set up your own Game Night, please email me at [email protected]. Our next game night will be held on the last day of National Classics Week, which happens to be Rome’s Birthday! Be on the lookout for announcements of future events through Officer GroupMes and the NJCL Instagram. I hope to see you there!
