AGON AND CERTAMEN REPORTS · Fall 2023 · Torch: U.S.

Agon is a fun, low-stakes version of Certamen that explores all things Ancient Greek, including Greek language, mythology, literature, history, life, geography and material culture. Agon went amazingly this year, growing from the previous one! Featuring 23 teams with players representing many states, levels, and years of experience, the event consisted of two preliminary rounds, one semifinal round, and one final round. All teams - some of which were made up of students who had met for the first time at nationals - scored fantastically and showcased their impressive knowledge of the ancient Hellenic world. The finals even featured a lot of wild reactions and "oohs" from the teams as they duked it out to be crowned as the chiefs of all things Ancient Greek.
