Salvete omnes! Tennessee JCL has had a great few months. While we gear up for our State Convention this March, our JCL chapters have been hard at work with their own events. This November, various schools participated in Austin Peay Classics Day, competing in games of certamen and learning from various lecturers and advice seminars. Meanwhile, the Memphis University School JCL chapter hosted the 2022 Fall Festivus, a mini West-Tennessee Convention featuring activities including academic testing, certamen, and a spelling bee. A number of advanced Latin students from the Memphis area also participated in the annual Veterani Dinner to celebrate their achievements in higher-level Latin. Our other chapters have been busy hosting numerous events from a donation drive to Classics week competitions and more.
Our annual State Convention will be held March 24th and 25th at the Crowne Plaza Knoxville. We look forward to a fantastic rest of the year!

Salvete! The NJ-JCL has been busy doing some amazing projects this year! Notably, we held a very successful book drive, our Venus Day Volleyball tournament, a virtual Jeopardy night, and a night at “Funplex” for go-karts and laser tag! We have an amazing group of officers this year that dedicate so much time to our community and members. In the upcoming months we will have our annual Certamen to compete and meet up with great people all over the state and soon after we will have our State Convention! We are super excited to continue in-person events with guest speakers and find amazing opportunities for our members, but we have also developed the skills to do virtual activities and reach farther edges of the state. There are plenty of other projects we have done and will do so please check us out!

Many MassJCLers are currently hard at work preparing for upcoming certamen tournaments. Boston Latin School is hosting its 13th annual certamen on March 11, where students from across the state will compete at all levels. Harvard’s Certamen will follow shortly thereafter on April 1 — that tournament draws teams from all over the country and is always excitingly competitive. We are looking forward to our State Convention on April 28-30, which will include a statewide certamen tournament and many other competitions.
It will be a busy stretch for MassJCL as we start counting down to Nationals! We are all so excited to see our friends from other state chapters this summer in Atlanta!
