National Convention 2021

TESTIMONIALS

Andrew Wei - ARIZONA

"National convention was great this year! I especially liked getting to do fellowships and spirit again, as those are always a cornerstone of the nationals experience. Agon and Certamen were also really fun and well organized this year, but mostly I enjoyed seeing my fellow AZJCL delegates again."

Sloane Wehman - MARYLAND

"The 2021 National Convention was an amazing, fun filled experience with challenging Certamen, engaging activities, and lots of laughs with JCLers from across the nation! I represented the Maryland JCL in delegate meetings and other congregations that required a member from each state to attend. This was a great experience to get to know the NJCL better and to see the behind-the-scenes work of national elections and other important convention events. I also enjoyed competing in Certamen and participating in contest sessions; it helped me to learn more about the classics and enhanced my understanding of certain topics that I did not know much about prior to the convention."

Hena Allaqaband - WISCONSIN

"When I first heard the news that nationals would once again be virtual, I was crushed. In July 2020, we all expected to be back together, enjoying the love and community of the JCL in San Diego. However, regardless of the deja vu we may have felt sitting at our computers once again, convention was still an amazing experience. Personally, I loved being able to watch multiple rounds of Certamen without having to sprint from room to room in an unknown college building. Being able to listen to candidates’ speeches and hear each unique answer to questions about their platform without having to trek a mile to the Fargo Dome is a luxury I’ll definitely miss next summer. Though no virtual event can top the feeling of watching WI sweep at Ludi, getting to laugh about the fitness gram pacer test as an e-lympika event was a close second. Convention online, though it can really never be the same as it is in-person, was still my favorite week of summer, and whether it’s over zoom or in North Dakota, the feelings of unity and belonging that the JCL bring are still the same."
