On the last weekend of March, AZJCL hosted our state convention. Schools from all over Arizona attended for two virtual days of testing, social events, and of course, Certamen. The State Championships of Certamen were hotly contested, but the advanced trophy went to BTN, as did the intermediate. The novice level was won by BASIS Ahwatukee in a close final. Students from all schools placed on the testing, with some taking over 30 ribbons home. The social events, run by the officers, provided bonding and fun for all. Since then, AZJCL has been focusing on preparing for national convention, with delegates studying and completing projects.

The biggest piece of news out of California is that we recently held our annual state convention on April 1 and 2! St. Francis School in Sacramento hosted the virtual convention, and many students and adults across the state worked together to create an amazing atmosphere, despite it being held online! Certamen, visual arts contests, spirit, oratory, and Kahoots were just a few of the many activities that CAJCLers participated in at convention. Additionally, elections for our new CAJCL board members were held at convention, and we've been preparing to usher in our 2022-23 board elects. Besides that, we've been continuing our Photo, Roman Holiday, and Iocus of the Month contests, which you can see on our Instagram— @cajcl. Our final board meeting before national convention takes place on May 14th, where we'll initiate new board members, recap state convention, and begin preparing for nationals. That's all from the CAJCL!

I am excited to report that we hosted the 2022 GJCL state convention this April for the first time since 2019. For the past two years, the GJCL hosted virtual programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we were thrilled to welcome over 500 delegates in person this year. At Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia, delegates participated in academic testing, Certamen, creative and graphic arts contests, Ludi and Olympika, workshops, and social events. Thank you so much to the GJCL committee chairs, student officer board, teachers, chaperones, and delegates for their hard work in making state con possible this year.
Additionally, congrats to our new student officer board! The GJCL is looking forward to another awesome year, starting off with national convention in Louisiana this summer. Georgia is ready to hold onto its title as the winner of the Spirit Contest (in the large states category)! Until then, the GJCL hopes everyone enjoys their summer! :)
