Salvete, omnes! Since taking office, I've been focusing on measures to make the National Junior Classical League more inclusive of all students. I'm delighted to announce that at Fall Planning Meeting, an ad hoc subcommittee of the NJCL Executive Board was formed to assess the NJCL's inclusivity and to find ways to make ourselves a more equitable organization. This month, I'll be presiding over our work before we reconvene with the NJCL Executive Board in November/December. For the future, expect to hear more about NJCL's efforts to become more inclusive and equitable. Additionally, state presidents should keep their eyes out for a virtual meeting I hope to plan soon!

Salvete, amici! Ever since my first national convention at Miami University, I looked up to the national JCL officers and knew that one day I wanted to join them. Therefore, I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to be serving as your NJCL 1st VP. Since taking office, I have been very busy working on different projects to help increase JCL publicity and membership. From working with Mr. Ristroph and my fellow officers to launch JCLive to collaborating with JCLers from across the country on my state motto initiative, I have been trying every angle to increase awareness of the JCL outside of the immediate classical community. Additionally, I have been focused on helping the JCL adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic by revising the rules of various contests to accommodate social distancing protocols and aiding JCL chapters with transitioning their physical events to virtual platforms. I have also been working with Lyndie to create a National Classics Week that can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of how rigid social distancing is in your state. It has been a pleasure to work with such a phenomenal officer board. I look forward to what the future holds!
