and its magnificent potential. You are so important in making the JCL the mighty hive it is. Stay involved, enjoy your years, and “bee” kind to all of your fellow JCLers. Thank you for your faith in me.

2018-2019 NJCL President

From the FARGODOME to not trodding on the sod, this past convention was full of so many incredible experiences. I am so pleased with how the Diversity Mixer, Gender/Sexuality lecture, and fundraising for the Trevor Project went. Over $2,800 was raised during Coin Wars! It is amazing to see the NJCL moving forward in a more intersectional and inclusive path.
I am so honored to have served all of you this past year. I've had the opportunity to reach out to people all across the country and help them with membership issues. This office experience has been incredibly rewarding to me and I wish I could have done even more.
Although membership has been decreasing the past few years, I haven't lost hope. I'd like to urge every one of you to take some sort of action to increase membership in your local chapter. Whether it's helping film a promotional video, making a poster for your Latin Club, or even just spreading the word about JCL to your friends -- every small action counts to help grow the JCL community. If you have questions about increasing membership or starting a chapter, feel free to email my successor, Andrew Saverance. While my ending is bittersweet, I am confident that all of you will keep making the JCL even better than it already is. Semper ad meliora!
Love,
Aleah Malik

To my little bees,
Thank you so much for the greatest convention and the best seven years a puella could ever ask for. Although I keep searching for words resembling closure, I have nothing profound that can fully encompass all of my emotions. However, if you are reading this, I beg you, don’t lose sight of what our great organization can do it
Dearest JCL,
Like many others in the community, the JCL has undoubtedly shaped me into the person I am today. We all share similar stories about how the JCL has impacted our lives, but I still love listening to them no matter how many times they are told. I hope that you all had an amazing convention!

Salvete omnes,
In thinking about my time in the JCL, I found it difficult to summarize my entire experience into a single speech, but I’ve compiled a list of advice I thought would be helpful to new JCLers and relatable to old JCLers.
I. Carpe diem. Try out for Certamen, submit your artwork, do that really cringey but snazzy roll call skit!
