COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD MR. & MRS. Moshe WANGROFSKY Moshe Wangrofsky, Executive Director of CounterForce, has been involved in serving the klal for more than 35 years. As the son of Rav Dov Wangrofsky, z”l, a talmid chochom who learned in the great Mussar Yeshivos of Lomza and Novardok, young Moshe imbibed his father’s strong Torah values which have influenced his life and career. Mr. Wangrofsky received his Master of Social Work in 1971, and began to work as a counselor and therapist. While his positions were excellent from a professional view, his personal desire to serve Klal Yisroel was not satisfied until he was hired in 1980 by Rabbi Mosheh Yechiel Friedman, zt”l, as a therapist and supervisor in Torah Umesorah’s CounterForce Program. The program provides school-based counseling, therapy, mentoring and preventive services to students and their families. Upon Rabbi Friedman’s retirement in 2000, Mr. Wangrofsky assumed full leadership of the program. Decades since he first joined CounterForce, Mr. Wangrofsky asserts that he continues to experience spiritual and professional satisfaction through his service to the klal. Mr. Wangrofsky is also co-founder and director of the Yitti Leibel Help Line, an anonymous hotline that provides mental health services and support worldwide. He has been an active member of the United TASK Force, an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in preventive counseling and medicine, and maintains a private practice. He continues to run the Burial Society for the now closed Brownsville shul where he grew up. Moshe Wangrofsky’s greatest pride is the nachas he and his aishes chayil Barbara derive from their 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and great grandchild.
