Talk on Crime Awareness & Prevention
6 March 2014
DSP Lim Sun Aik, CID, Selangor Police Contingent Office
Against this backdrop and very much in congruence with
Top Glove’s areas of focus, a timely talk on “Crime
Awareness & Prevention” was organised for Top Glove
staff and there to deliver it, was DSP Lim Sun Aik of the
CID in the Selangor Police Contingent Office.
The hour long session saw an audience of 50 TG-zens,
which included Tan Sri Lim and Mr KM Lee, sitting in rapt
attention as DSP Lim candidly shared his experiences
garnered from over 17 years of serving in the CID. The
topics covered spanned the latest crime statistics, crime
prevention measures and do’s and don’t’s during the
commission of a robbery.
Yes, we live in dangerous times. But know that there are
pro-active steps we can take to mitigate the likelihood of
falling prey and becoming yet another statistic or at the
very least, mitigate the outcome.
The numbers are frightening to behold. According to the
Crime Index 2013 released by Parliament, for the period
January to September 2013, there were:
If you forget everything else, remember this rule of thumb:
Your personal safety is most important. Nothing is worth
your life.
478 murders
2068 rapes
12,659 violent gang robberies
17,470 break-ins
Missed out on this talk? Don’t despair. DSP Lim’s
presentation deck which includes tips on how to prevent
and survive a robbery is available in our e-Library on the
Top Glove Intranet.
And these are just the known cases.
