Thank you ALL for another
successful ‘Hoof & Hook’ event!
I feel confident in saying the 2017 B+LNZ ‘Hoof &
Hook’ competition was the most successful ‘Hoof &
Hook’ to date on all levels; the committee has had
an overwhelming amount of positive feedback about
the modules, the new application process for the
Beef Ambassador awards, Saturday night’s Beef
Bash and the overall running of the weekend.
Thank you to our sponsors, module facilitators,
judges, stewards, photographers, meat processor,
competitors, parents and all other FBNZ supporters,
without your input the Executive Committee
would not be able to run such a successful
event.
A special thank you to our event co-coordinator,
Isabelle Hobbs, who did an outstanding job for her
first year in the role. Izzy’s organisation and
planning prior to the event were the key to how
smoothly this years event ran.
Although next year’s
event may seem a long
way away yet, its never
too early to start thinking
about steers for the
event. Having broken in steers for the past 10 years
I will certainly vouch that they are much easier to
break in at 350kg than they are at 500-600kg.
That’s about it from me , remember if there is
anything that you would like to see added to the
FBNZ newsletter don’t hesitate to get in touch as I
am always looking for news to put in the next
edition.

This year we celebrated 10 years of the Allflex Beef
Ambassador programme. Allflex have been
sponsors of the Beef Ambassador programme since
it first began in 2008. The support the team from
Allflex provide us with is outstanding, not only in
terms of the opportunities they allow us to give our
Beef Ambassadors but also through the active role
they play interviewing applicants and helping with
modules during the ‘Hoof & Hook’ competition.
This newsletter is largely filled with the results from
the 2017 ‘Hoof & Hook’ competition including
profiles on our 2017 Allflex Beef Ambassadors,
Hannah and Callum.
